Malaria is a disease that is transmitted only by female Anopheles mosquitos. Ghana’s entire population is at risk, but malaria rates are lower in urban areas, plus there are seasonal and geographic variations in transmission. Although malaria morbidity continues to be high in Ghana, I am happy to report that it is no longer the leading cause of death in the country.
