USAID Administrator Statement: Leading the fight Against Malaria and Protecting the World From Future Pandemics

In honor of World Malaria Day 2022, USAID Administrator Samantha Power released a statement recapping PMI’s achievements for fiscal year 2021 and how they were not only accomplished in the face of challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that PMI’s malaria programs actually did double duty to fight COVID-19. Despite challenges, Power expressed hope in the eradication of malaria.

“I am confident that the United States, along with our global and country partners, can draw on these innovations and commit to finally ridding the world of this deadly disease.”
