The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) welcomes the Biden administration’s decision to host the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (Global Fund) Seventh Replenishment Conference in 2022. The United States is a founding member and the largest donor to the Global Fund, contributing $17 billion since inception. Against the backdrop of the current pandemic, it is imperative that countries, donors, private sector, and civil society organizations come together to renew their commitment to ending these infectious diseases. Thanks to the generosity of the American people, the Global Fund and PMI with other partners have helped save 7.6 million lives and prevented 1.5 billion malaria infections since 2000. PMI looks forward to continuing to work with the Global Fund and PMI partner countries to maintain the hard won gains over the past two decades, build stronger, more resilient health systems, and leverage PMI’s platform to help prevent future pandemics.
