At a ceremony in Abidjan on March 2, 2018, the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Raymode Goudou-Coffie, announced that Côte d’Ivoire will benefit from the launch of the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative. According to USAID country representative Jeff Bryan, PMI’s support will “boost economic productivity, increase household income, and provide a better future for children.” PMI [PDF, 87KB] plans to contribute $25 million towards malaria prevention and control interventions in its first year of implementation. Dr. Tanoh Mea Antoine, the manager of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), explained that this funding will benefit the population of 34 health districts.
