Professor Kwaku Poku Asante and his team at Kintampo Health Research Center in Ghana are leading the implementation of a PMI-supported trial to test the efficacy of combining the malaria vaccine with the administration of antimalarial drugs to children at high risk of malaria. We spoke to Prof Asante to learn about his work in the field of malaria, and his insights into malaria vaccine research and implementation.

Community health worker Blessing Ichekula is a beacon of hope in the fight against malaria in her community of Mbayan in central Nigeria. She noticed that the impact of malaria weighed especially heavily on the shoulders of women in her community and was determined to do something about it.
