Following the appointment of Dr. Kenneth William Staley as U.S. Global Coordinator of the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), Senior Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Co-chair of the House Caucus on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, released the following statement:

“With academic preparation and a distinguished career in public health, Dr. Staley is eminently qualified to carry on PMI’s outstanding legacy. As PMI is being expanded to cover over half a billion people, it will be no easy task, but I believe Dr. Staley is equipped to lead the program to continued success.

“Since its inception in 2005, the PMI is a sterling example of America’s capacity to change the world for the better when we lead. The results speak for themselves: millions of children are alive today due to the efforts of PMI and other partners.”
